INTRODUCTION
Josephine is a Communications and Marketing professional that has worked in academic and arts administration since 2021. She graduated as Salutatorian of her high school class in 2018, and obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a concentration in Multimedia Journalism and a double minor in Dance and Theatre Arts from Fairleigh Dickinson University in February 2023. She has used her 19 years of dance experience to effectively manage and advertise for numerous dance-based organizations and projects during and after her time as a student. Her goal is to maintain structure in dance spaces and ensure that all artists and business associates receive clear communication regarding everyday procedures in addition to outside events. Her passions for dance and marketing have allowed her to cultivate and maintain online advertising campaigns and social media postings for various projects. Josephine's time as Front Desk Administrator for New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble in Summit, NJ as well as her ongoing experience as a seasonal choreographer for high-school theatre productions have showcased her ability to showcase talented artists and performers in the Northern-New Jersey area through social media postings and traditional press-releases. She has combined her love for dance and book-keeping experience to be an effective administrator in training spaces for young performers. She currently works for Sharon's Studio of Dance and Music in Whippany, N.J., which will be celebrating its 50th year in business in 2024. She is responsible for scheduling events, financial book keeping, overseeing child welfare and instruction, parental and community outreach and communication, creating and upkeeping existing programming for the competition team and recreational dancers (i.e. the production of the yearly recital, competitions throughout New Jersey, and creating different dance numbers for various classes), and distributing marketing materials for the company's social media accounts.
In addition to her administrative positions, Josephine is currently the Assistant Artistic Director, as well as a dancer and choreographer, with Extensions Dance Project, a New Jersey-based company of dancers looking to continue their passion for dance and choreography outside of their professions. She has choreographed 6 pieces for Extensions from 2022-2023 (Season 1, 2, and 3), and has danced in 17 pieces for the company. She has been able to perform in the company's seasonal showcases held at the Madison Arts Culture Alliance in Madison, N.J. as part of the Morris County Festival of Dance. Additionally, she performed in Spark Theatre Festival NYC as part of Chutzpah Dance's "Movement II" as a guest artist associated with EDP. She has since appeared in multiple guest-artist spots in NYC and Boston dance festivals. In August of 2024, she traveled to Scotland to participate in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as a guest artist for Chutzpah Dance's "Vibrance" alongside fellow EDP dancers.
Previously, she was the Public Relations Chair for Fairleigh Dance Project, a social issues dance company located at FDU's Florham Campus. For 4 years, she constructed promotional materials for the organization and assisted in the creation of seasonal showcases performed for the university's student body. While in FDP, she choreographed and danced in 5 showcases as well as created all posters, programs, social media campaigns and other advertisements for the club's campus-wise events. Josephine has been a dancer since she was 5 years old, and trained in styles including acrobatics, ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, and lyrical. Her dance background has allowed her to continue dancing and performing in pieces based in New Jersey during and after her time in school.
Currently, she is the Lead Teacher in the infant room of My Special Spot, an early childhood education center in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey. She is responsible for maintaining child safety standards, creating weekly lesson plans for each student, managing the classroom’s organization and decoration, assisting in monthly events designed to engage with every child in our facility, documenting each child’s development and academic progress to parental guardians, and maintaining facility cleanliness standards. She monitors each child in her care (ages 5 months to 6 years) and ensures they thrive in a safe learning environment. Josephine is a licensed substitute teacher in the Pompton Lakes School District in New Jersey, and is a frequent babysitter in the community on the weekends.
